The latest version allows you to select certain lists as “additional lists” which show up with checkboxes on the PMPro checkout page.

Otherwise, users are added to the lists specified per membership level.

it doesn’t seem to allow you to have no optin lists though. it’s already in there and i can’t unselect it. or am i doing it wrong?

If you hold control and click on a selected item in the lists, it will unselect it.
