Opinions on my site – Smash Comics

  • Hi all,
    Thought I’d link my site here and see what you all think. Im open to any suggestions.

    I am using the Original Store Front Theme with WP-Ecommerce plugin.

    Not sure about the background, perhaps a little too strong, not sure though. Was more first try at doing something like that in GIMP.
    The title is temp as I am getting one made.

    I kinda like what Ive done, though I do need to get more traffic there so am learning about Google AdSense and whatnot. But Ive just got this feeling that the site is a little dry and doesnt really feel “alive”. Not sure how to explain that.

    But as I said, Im open to any and all suggestions ??

    , I can’t see anything past ? 2011 because of the dark background.

    I don’t know if that was intentional or not, but I’m pointing it out just in case! ??

    As a huge comic fan, I love what you’ve done from a visual aspect. The vivid colors work great for your niche!

    Just a few thoughts:

    1. It wasn’t obvious to me what the site was about right away. I thought I’d be able to read comics. Maybe it’s just me.

    2. I see you provide your email address but having a contact form is a nice option. Pretty simple plugin if you want to give it a try.

    3. Your top level permalinks use pageid. From a usability and SEO perspective, you might want to name them something like smashcomics.au/marvel.

    4. When one clicks on an image, a slightly larger version is displayed. If you could make it even bigger, it would be great.

    5. I see you have search on your subpages but it isn’t on the home page.

    5. Oh, when I use ‘live search’ and press enter, it brings me back to the home page.

    Thanks heaps for your reply!

    1) Great observation! Never thought of it in that way. Ill work to make that more obvious.

    2) Nice idea. Didnt realise there was plugin. Ill take a look.

    3) Good idea. Ill see if I can change it. Worried about breaking any links to the products. Guess Ill need to have a play. Good thinking for SEO though.

    4) Unfortunately the slightly larger image is the size I get off my distributor so cant get any bigger ??

    5 & 6) Nice pickups mate! Top of my todo list.
