Hi, I would like to ask from an SEO and page loading speed – would 3 images load faster than one long picture. I have an infographic type pic that is rather long but that pic can be cut into 3 pics and still be very nice. What would be better ?

    Thank you.

  • One large would probably better, because there are additional delays caused by each http call—it’s not just the size you need to consider, but the transactional costs of each request to your site.

Having said that, if the pictures are stacked vertically, and two of them are off screen, then it would be quicker to split them in 3 and use a plugin like lazy load, which only loads images when they are visible. That way, the first image would load faster (as it’s 1/3 of the size) and the other two can take their time.

If they are horizontal or visible immediately on the screen (they are “above the fold”) then 1 image is better.

Make sure to make your image as small as possible in the first place using a tool such as JPEG mini or Smush it.

    Thank you Electric Feet.

Does anyone know how we can contact each other directly by email. I would like to reach out to several members and ask them for some direct help for which I would pay them.

    Thanks.

@electricfeet – thank you for the forum rules which I had no idea about but noticed how hard it was to try to find a way to direct message someone. Your hard work and highly helpful answers are greatly appreciated – so once again thanks.

I will add the plug in you mention since I did not realize the cache plugin was not saving my site.

    Thank you.

    Thanks for the thanks ??
