• Hello:

This plugin is great and implementation was a breeze.

However, I’m having an issue with variables not being passed from the website holding the plugin to the OpenTable app on mobile.

After selecting “Find a Table”, if a mobile user has the OpenTable app installed, it automatically opens and only the guest count is being passed. The date and time are ignored.

This issue doesn’t occur when redirecting to the OpenTable website, however as 80% of the users visiting the site I’m working with are mobile, the error is posing a problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

    Cheers.

    Hi there,

We don’t have compatibility with the Open Table App at the moment. Also, I don’t believe Open Table has any documentation on how developers like us can work with their app at all. We communicate with them as much as possible, but they are generally speaking a closed and proprietary system which isn’t very public unfortunately.

Keep in mind that While you might have 80% mobile visitors, I’d be surprised if more than 5% of those visitors used the Open Table App itself.

Nevertheless, I’ll look into it more. They should have updated docs on how their standard widget pushes information to the App — though even that is difficult to find I have to say.

When I add widget on page, I click ‘Book Table’ website redirect to https://www.opentable.com/r/chinese-inn-reservations-canberra?restref=33221&covers=2&partysize=2 and I see error

Hi @dongcoik7a — can you provide a link to your site so I can see the problem live?
