Open link in new tab

Ever since the new version release, when I make changes on my older blog posts they don’t actually update.

I am specifically trying to update an older article in the classic editor that has links that don’t open into a new tab (thus losing traffic), when I select the checkbox ‘Open in new tab’ and save/update the article nothing happens. If I click edit link again the ‘Open in new tab’ is unchecked again.

I think this is a bug since the new editor’s linking is much simpler and has the toggle switch, perhaps this update messed up the previous linking methodology?
