• Hello nice plugin, am using it with Postie to pull an image from inside a daily email and set it to _harikrutfiwu_url for the featured image which is working, it shows on my website and in sharing previews with Squirrly SEO. But issue is if I actually share the post to a Meta platform the og: image is not set, so Meta pulls the website logo instead. Do you get the same if you test a post with your set featured image here https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ ? Similarly the twitter:image property doesn’t get set, so it shares with no image. I’m not sure if this is something you can set in your plugin or if I need to write a way for the Squirrly SEO plugin to set the url found in _harikrutfiwu_url ? Thanks

  • Once the post has been created Postie is out of the picture. Not sure why Meta wouldn’t pick up the image.

When I use the Facebook tool it seems to pull the image correctly, but I don’t use Squirrly or any other SEO plugin.

Thanks Wayne. I think have found the problem after experimenting, it’s a permission error not an og:image issue so much. If I put the featured image link alone into that Meta bug test link it gets a 403 response (https://mailing.kbc.be/mailings/37/1764/grafiek1(69).png) If I try another (https://metastock-web.azureedge.net/i/xenith/xenith-news-1000px-compressed.jpg) it finds it with a 206 and shows it in the preview. (As a side note this probably explains why Postie works to set the image automatically into _harikrutfiwu_url when asked to by manually clicking the ‘process email’ button but doesn’t work when set up on cron, prob gets blocked too, although all images still show in the post.) Must be some nuance between which bots can and can’t pull these image links.

I have tried this with the WordPress default ‘insert from url’ image block and Meta still can’t see it. I guess for shared posts I could click upload to media library from url first then it would work.
