Open font awesome social media icon links in new tab Onetone Theme

Can someone help please, I cannot get the font awesome social media icons to open in new tab, I’ve tried inserting target=”_blank, but it doesn’t work as it usually does. I also have the under Menu>Screen options “linked target” checked.

This is how the code looks:

• <i class=”fa fa-2 fa-facebook”>?</i>
