Open external link in new window not working

Hi there

I want external (affiliate) links to open in a new window but none of them work when I check the box to “open link in a in new window). When that box is unchecked the link works ok but when I check that box it briefly opens a new window and then closes it straight away.
I have tried deactivating other plugins but to no avail.

The paragraph concerned is below and the link to look at is under “Hive”:

“8. Get a Thesaurus. A thesaurus gives synonyms – words that mean the same or have similar meaning – and are an invaluable resource in expanding your stock of words. I like to have a separate dictionary and if you do too then Hive carry the Oxford Paperback Thesaurus and the Paperback Oxford English Dictionary, which are a great choice.”

I have looked at the element with “inspect” and this is what I ss on the offending link. It looks as though “noopener” might be the culprit but I don’t know where that has come from

“Noopener” is not present when the link is not set to open in new tab.

Any ideas please?
