• I would like to put a collection of flags on a map that show a location and open another page if selected. Alternatively, the listing of locations below the map would work, if the link went to a page with the name of the marker, instead of opening the mouse-over window above the marker.

Can either of these be done?

  • Hi,

you can use custom icons, so flags would also be possible.

Opening a page directly when clicking on a marker is not possible though – a marker can have a popuptext, which can contain all kind of html – and which could be used to add a link to open a page.

regarding list of markers/link target: you can choose between the following options for “Default action for clicking on icons or marker names” in Settings / Map Defaults / List of marker settings:
    – set map center on marker position and open popup
    – set map center on marker position only
    – no action (and hide links)
Adding a link to a specific page is not supported here.
    best,

It turns out that a partner on this project is making a Google Earth based KLM file, with custom icons for each location. I will simply add URL link to each icon and that should solve the problem.

I found it interesting that old fashion image maps don’t appear to be usable as the hot zones move around when you resize the page. It appears to me to be related to the new “responsive” coding in the browsers.
