    Hi,
I’m testing our email sign up form above the header on the website. Sometimes I get the “Oops. Something went wrong. Please try again later.” but the test user I set up gets a comfirmation email. The error log says “Form 268 > MailChimp API error: 0 cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received.”

Can I fix this so visitors to the site don’t get confused?
    Thanks very much,
    Marilyn Utz

That is strange! If there is a timeout error you really shouldn’t get any confirmation email from MailChimp unless you are using our Premium add-on with Email notifications enabled: https://kb.mc4wp.com/get-email-notification-every-sign/ and the To field set to [EMAIL] so it does to the subscriber.

Are you sure the confirmation mail was not from another test you did earlier?

This error indicates a network problem somewhere between your hosting server and the MailChimp API and means the API was not reachable at that moment. In most cases it’s a temporary glitch that is quickly fixed by the hosting provider.

By the way, you can change the error message displayed to the user under MailChimp for WP > Forms > Messages.

    Hope that helps!

Our developer mentioned it might be a firewall that is allowing outgoing connection but doesn’t accept the response back that everything went well.
You could check this with your hosting provider.

    Hope that helps!

    Kind regards,
