• Sorry. Can’t find version of WordPress.

Problem: I’ve been using WordPress for years. Somehow the WordPress directory and files resident on my computer are gone? About six different computers since I started using WordPress.

My blogs are still there. I’m trying to update the program to take advantage of new plugins, but cannot install plugins as the WP director on my computer is absent.

I don’t want to download WP again in fear that it will over-write my existing files up in the WordPress cloud. Can’t download back up feature as no files to install it to.

Any suggestions as to how I can upgrade, use new plugins, but not destroy my many-years-old and hundreds of posts blog?

    Much obliged.

    Bill

  • Is this a self-hosted or a WordPress.com blog?

    Hi Molnarm…

This is a WordPress.com blog. It is: https://wrw51.wordpress.com/

What I’m trying to do is to get my blog posts to appear on my Twitter feed. I’ve read the “how tos” but when I go to load the plug in into my WordPress files on my computer, I do not appear to have any WordPress directories or files on my computer. I did a search, and they just aren’t here.

So, if I download an updated version of WordPress, will it try to create a new account, and in so doing, will I lose a number of years of blog posts?

And, I’ve tried to backup, but then, I have to copy another plug in into the WordPress directories on my computer… same problem?

    Thanks,

    Bill

This forum is for self-hosted WordPress sites. Please try asking your question on https://en.forums.wordpress.com/

If you have a WordPress.com blog, nothing is stored on your computer.

Esmi is right, you might find more help on the other forum.
