Only working on some variations

Firstly let me say thank you for this plugin. In conjunction with 2xRetina it has really done wonders to make my images look good on retina devices.
I have however run into a problem, that I hope you can help with. What I am seeing is that if an image has more than two variation, only the image for variations 1 and 2 seem to get swapped out. The third variation swaps to the low res version (blurry) and does not change. I have tried to regenerating the retina images in case this was an issue but it has not changed.

if you select the variation for hardback – large, or softback – large then a sharp image is displayed, selecting softback – small the blurry image is displayed. Interestingly just checking it again, it does seem a bit more random, in that as I change variations sometimes it renders sharply other times it is blurry.
The fact that it seems to work all the time on products with only two variations makes me think that this is not related to the theme. Example of a two variation product below.
Any help appreciated.
