• Hi all!
I am starting a blog about our baby-to-be, but I don’t want it to be public, instead it should be either by invitation or by approval — how can I achieve that with WP?

I’d like a public intro page with a link to registration, and all other posts marked “private”. Then I want to approve users before they get access to private content. Or invite people by creating a kind of “subscriber” account for each, but the “subscriber” also gets the dashboard which is confusing — I’d like to just give them reading access (and commenting) after they log in.

When you install WP, it will ask you weather you want to make it public or private. You can select it as private and it will be displayed to register users only. Then you can place a link at the main page to register to your site as subscriber…

No, you can not provide them only read access. WP will provide them dashboard as well.
