    Hello, my friend,

Let me try and answer your questions one by one.

First of all, yes, the plugin works on all images, but you can configure the directories that it will monitor. So if you want it to handle some specific images and only those ones, then you have the option to put them in a single directory and configure the plugin to monitor only that directory.

On the subject of working with Smush the answer is that our plugin can play nicely with it because it does something completely different than Smush. Smush optimises al your images and sets a maximum limit to their size, while our plugin will downsize your images only targeting mobile devices.

Now we haven’t had any problems handling even thousands of images produced in big news sites who manage hundrends of thousands of pageviews per day. The image copies are only produced when and if they are accessed by mobile devices and they are divided in subdirectories in the exact same logic that WordPress does. And if they become too many you can always clean up your cache.

The last question about the subdomain is tricky. If you are using a CDN which serves your images through a different subdomain then the CDN is handling your image requests directly and does not really leave any choice to our plugin. So this would actually work as if our plugin is not even there! Our plugin can work with a CDN when the CDN keeps the same domain as the original website or -at least- requests the images from the origin server via HTTP requests which do keep url parameters intact. In the latter case one can enable the CDN support option in the plugin settings page. We call this option “experimental” for the aforementioned reason and because it has one more drawback: it cannot handle images in CSS backgrounds at all (yet). However if you test it in your installation I would love to hear your feedback.

Let me know if I can help any further!

    Cheers,
    Takis
