Only translate front-end of WooCommerce

Is it possible to only translate the front-end of WooCommerce with Loco Translate?

Loco Translate is a file editor. As such it doesn’t know which strings are for the back end and which are the front end, or in fact anything about what the strings are for.

I would like the back-end to stay in English

I suggest setting the admin language of your user profile to English. This is a function of WordPress and not related to my plugin. Possibly it solves your problem.

What I wonder is if I can use Loco Translate to tell WooCommerce to use the Spanish .mo and .po files and thereby make sure that the “Add to Cart” etc. buttons are using the Spanish language?

Loco Translate doesn’t tell WooCommerce anything. Setting your WordPress site language to Spanish is what controls which translation files are loaded.

Thanks again. From working with Loco Translate in the past I remember setting up, receptively linking .mo and .po files and changing them if needed (We had differences between Swiss and Swiss-German).

So I was thinking the sorcerer of the plugin might be able to tell me if that’s possible. But it seems we’re talking past each other, or my memory might be tricking me.

To my knowledge WordPress officially supports de_CH and de_CH_informal.

Loco Translate allows you to create any language with Switzerland as region. fr_CH for example. However, this is no different to what I’ve already described. It’s the WordPress site language that selects the variant.

Long story short, switching WordPress to Spanish and then the user to English, like you suggested, works like a charm.

I had the suspicion I was not unclear in explaining my problem and still you got me the solution.
