• When posting or updating an article that contains more than one self-link to another post in the same blog, only the first pingback shows up. This pingback works properly, in that I get a moderation email and the pingback shows up in the comments list, but all other pingbacks vanish. No error messages show up.

I’m running www.remarpro.com version 4.2.2 with theme Twenty Twelve. The blog is https://glennrowe.net/physicspages/. I’ve tried disabling all plugins but the problem is still there. [On a side note, with the Akismet plugin active, all pingbacks are blocked, but that’s a different issue.]

I found another post on the support blog from 7 years ago pointing out the same problem but can’t find any resolution. Does anyone have any updates on this problem?

    Thanks.

    Update after installing wordpress 4.3:

I’ve been informed by the blog host (fasthosts.co.uk) that multiple pingbacks are incompatible with their servers. They say that pingbacks could lead to DDoS attacks. Given the amount of spam comments I receive (hundreds every day) I could well believe that someone would try multiple pingbacks as an attack, so I suppose it’s a legitimate concern.

The only workaround that I’ve found is to save the post in the wordpress editor as many times as there are links in the post, since on each save, another pingback is sent.

Multiple pingbacks do work on wordpress.com so either they aren’t concerned about DDoS, or they’ve modified the wordpress code to cope with the problem. In any case, it would be nice if some future version of www.remarpro.com fixed this problem.
