Yes the folder “WP-Content” exists with all the child files in it.

    Hi singh2011,

Currently, your site https://infobynet.com is using “twentyseventeen” themes which have been activated by default and as you mentioned in the above comment “all child files in it”, it seems that you were using a child theme of some other theme earlier before the update. So you need to reactivate the child theme to execute you customized code from the child theme’s files.
    Hope this will help you.

    Hi Dinesh,

I tried changing the different different themes, bu the problem didnt solve. Switched to default theme to understand everything works fine. “Child files” mean all the files in WP-Content folder.

    Hi singh2011,

As I am seeing there is only CSS file included on your site.
    https://infobynet.com/wp-content/themes/twentyseventeen/style.css?ver=4.7.5’

And when we open this file, there is no code written inside this file. While by default this file contains thousands of lines of code. So it may be possible that your update didn’t complete properly and some files are missing. So either you need to update again or just download a fresh WordPress zip and pick only “twentyseventeen” theme after extracting from the wp-content/ themes folder. Replace your current “twentyseventeen” theme with this new one.
    That may resolve your problem.

    Hi Dinesh,

Thanks a lot for detailed information. But the problem still persists.
I have deleted the existing theme from directory and installed again from admin panel. Still no improvement. Again I deleted the complete folder of twentyseventeen and uploaded a manual copy via cpanel. Still same.

Even trying to switch to other themes, but of no use. All this happened just after I migrated to 4.8. My website is screwed up it seems.

    1. Check folder permission for “wp-content” folder
    2. upload one sample test file (sample.txt) in wp-content folder and read it via browser infobynet.com/wp-content/sample.txt

and let me know what happens

    Hi Rajan,

    I just fixed it myself.
Zipped everything in installation directory. Downloaded fresh files of wp4.7.5. Uploaded all content except wp-content.
Then inserted wp-content folder and wp-config file. Things are up and running well now.

I have not updated to 4.8 fearing crash.
