Only SOME images not working after server host move

Ok, so I am at a loss. I know this is a common problem, but nothing I’ve seen works.

Here’s the short of it.

I moved server hosts. The URLs/Paths did NOT change, so no database path changes required. It was simply hardware.

I copied all files (direct transfer, no zipping/uncompressing) from one server to a backup drive (the site is huge), then uploaded it all.

In doing so, the database came back online, the site worked, and I thought I was good. However, SOME of the images did not load. I saw the featured images were not appearing. However, the image WAS there. If accessed directly, the image would load. They were both .png and .jpg files.

An image compression script saw those files as neither format (but, they were, I verified). Other .png and .jpg files all loaded fine. They were all exported the same way from the same programs. So, there is no reason why only some wouldn’t work. I went back to the original files on the old server, reuploaded, and they still had an error.

So, I think SOMETHING is not installed on my server outside of WordPress. A translator, editor, a setting, SOMETHING but I am at a complete loss.

Notice no Featured Image which would appear at the top. However, it is set correctly to: https://www.theblackvault.com/documentarchive/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/unnamed-file-7.jpg which loads when accessed directly. Inside WordPress’ Media Manager, the image does not show a thumbnail. Yes, I have tried to rebuild thumbnails, and it does not work.
