• In my opinion WordPress has to block all “Free-trail” plugins from the WP plugin directory. I was looking for a Free plugin. Please move to markets like Envato.

    Btw: it looks great.

    Regards.

    Hi!

I understand your point of view and we’ll introduce a free plan when we’ll able to afford it.

The problem is that free plans are damn expensive to handle for a company
that runs a cloud based service. Flyzoo runs on our servers this is how you can handle hundreds of realtime chats without killing your system.

All commercial plugins out there provide a free version that
is usually very very limited so you have to purchase the “pro” versions.

This is kidding people to me: I believe that it’s ways more honest to ask for an affordable price since the beginning. Take also into account that we use to offer long trial accounts to sites in constructions (sometime they last months!).

Drop us an email and I’ll provide a long trial if need one, though!

    Have an amazing day.

    Hi Andrea,

    Thanks for your reply.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done some plugin development myself, so I totally understand the reason. You want max exposure for your product.
But I wasn’t looking for a plugin that can handle many chats, it’s just for a personal site. That’s why I was looking on the WP directory. After installing I found out that this plugin is paid only. At first I didn’t see the ‘free-trail’.

Also I do not agree with your statement that a limited free version is kidding people. Releasing a (very) basic free plugin, with all the pro options greyed out, is a great way to introduce your product to the public. Almost every webdesigner knows you cannot expect much from a free plugin. And showing the (greyed out) Pro features is IMO a great way to trigger people.

All the best and I wish you good luck with your sales.

    Regards

    Hi Bjorn,

Ah ah have no idea how to deal with stars… wp should
    improve that thing imho!

I really appreciate your honest and constructive feedback.

We are looking to add a basic version as you described,
and I am pretty sure that this will boost our exposure by 10x.

My only concern is that we’ll have a lot of users complaining that the free
version does not provide “enough” … you might have noticed that this pattern happens all the time – you know it’s really hard to make everybody happy ??

    Best,
    Andrea

    Hi Andrea,

    You’re welcome.

About the “not enough pattern”, I think that’s mostly because they are not clear what the Free features are. They mainly focus on the Pro.
Demo sites often only show the full blown pro version, so it’s not clear what to expect from the free version. When installing, people’s expectations are too high and therefore are easily disappointed.

Be clear and transparant what the version features are from the get go, and I would setup a free and pro demo. Well informed customers will also decrease the # of support tickets.

    Best,
    Bjorn

    Hey!

Thanks for the heads up, I agree transparency is always rewarding. We’ll work on that on the first months of the next year.

    Let’s keep in touch ??

    Best,
    Andrea
