Hi and thank you for your question!

I am not sure if I understood correctly what you mean by ‘featured images’. Are you referring to the smaller thumbnails generated from the original images? If so, there is no option to select only the thumbnails for optimization, unfortunately. The default plugin is set to optimize both the smaller sized images & the originals.

Could you please explain why would you want to leave the originals un-optimized? We could consider adding this feature, if there is a good use case that would require this.

    Have a nice Sunday!

    Howdy!
First of all, thanks for your reply.

Yes, that’d exactly what I was talking about.

I’m currently hosting a wallpapers website, and the homepage is pretty heavy to load because the thumbnail aren’t compressed/optimized, I don’t want to compress/optimize the orignal image because I want to preserve the original size and quality.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I was assuming this is what you had in mind, keeping the originals un-touched.

I don’t want to compress/optimize the orignal image because I want to preserve the original size and quality.

Our optimization algorithms should not interfere with the quality of your wallpapers. Also the dimension of the image will remain the same, in pixels.

How about making a test using our Free Demo page https://shortpixel.com/free-demo and see how the wallpapers look like after being optimized. Could you also point me to one of the original files, so I could test it myself?

Actually, I wrote the size of the picture in all posts ( https://static.dyp.im/CubyQsKDix/fbb4e752e100e7390aaa9d7d88459f8f.PNG )
If the size of the original picture is changed, I’ll have to edit all posts to change the informations about the wallpaper.

Ok, I understand now. If there are many of them, this would be a drag.

However, having smaller sized wallpapers, would benefit your users. And your website’s speed.

A way to help you with this is optimize your thumbnails locally. For this, you would have to send over your images. We would then process them for you, send them back and you could replace them back in your website. We would happily do this for you. If you think this is an option, please contact us by email using our Contact form. Thanks!
