• Hi,

    No issues with the installation and key setup. However, when I go to the review tab in settings, I only see one review. Also, the widget displays one review. I tried changing the number of reviews to display, etc, but still only one shows up. My business has 20 reviews.

    I just installed and had the same issue. It turns out the Yelp API only returns 1 review (sorted by Yelp Sort). So this plugin saves it locally, and as new reviews are added to Yelp, it will start saving and displaying those as well.

    The Yelp API does not allow you to retrieve past reviews. ??

    So the only thing you can do is wait for people to add more reviews to Yelp.

    johnh10 is correct that the Yelp API that is used by the plugin currently only returns 1 review (although if your Yelp credentials are older you may be able to retrieve more). Also, the plugin does cache and save additional reviews over time.

    If you are seeing new reviews on Yelp but you are not seeing them in the plugin there may be two reasons: 1) you have entered the wrong Yelp business ID; some business will have more than one yelp business for one reason or another – make sure that you are using the correct on, and 2) although I can’t confirm it and this is only a theory, it’s possible that Yelp has changed their API such that the same review is always returned. I’ve signed up for a new set of credentials so I can test this myself, but it will be a while before I will know.

    We have installed Review Wave installed on 2 different sites on same day. Both businesses have new reviews since install. 1 site is showing 2 reviews, the one we originally mentioned only shows 1. Both businesses have had new reviews since install.

    The only thing I can think of is:

    Do those new reviews have a rating less than the required minimum rating (default of 4)?
    If so they won’t be imported.

    Reviews lower than the required minimum rating will be imported, but they won’t be displayed.

    If you think the rating threshold may be the cause for the missing reviews you can temporarily adjust that setting in the widget or shortcode settings. Also, if you know how to do so you could check the database to see how many reviews are stored there. You will find the reviews in a table called wp_rw_yelp_review (or something similar depending on how you have your WP database table prefix set up).

    By rating, do you mean of the review? Both are above 4 stars. Or do reviewers themselves have ratings?

    The review rating. If they’re 4 or 5 they should be displayed by default. If you changed the minimum rating to 5, though, they wouldn’t appear.

    Ok that what we thought meant. Rating is set 4+. Site that only has 1 review has yelp biz acct. does rhat make a diff?

    I don’t think a Yelp Business Account would matter. Do you mind posting the business ID here or emailing it to [email protected]? I can test the API to see what it is returning. Also, please include the review that the plugin shows. Thanks.

    Thanks @bouncy. I received your email with the info/pics. I wanted to follow up here in case others were following this thread or ran into the same issue.

    When I tested with your business ID and Yelp credentials I created this morning I got the same single review that you are getting. When I tried with an older set of credentials I got three reviews – the same review that you are seeing and two older ones (from 1 month and 2 months ago). It appears that the Yelp API is now returning the top reviews based on it’s “Yelp Sort” order. It used to return the most recent reviews. Unfortunately, it looks like we’re not likely to get all reviews even by saving them over time the way the Review Wave – Yelp Reviews plugin does. There’s nothing to be done about that unless Yelp changes the way their API works.
