Only one related link

    For years Related Posts worked fine.

    Now I notice some pages now only have one related page link. This happened recently, some pages which had three related page links now only have one.

    It’s not every page, there is not obvious pattern. And it is not the case that the pages in question don’t have plausible options to link to.

    Did something change?

    Hi there

    I can see that all 3 related posts are there, but the second and third ones are hidden by some CSS rules.

    I’d suggest checking for any custom CSS you’ve added that may be affecting those.

    If you can’t find anything, can you temporarily disable CSS minification on your site so that we can see exactly where the CSS issue is coming from?

    Switching off all custom CSS didn’t fix the problem. So that’s probably not the issue.

    The child theme style.css is empty, so it’s not that.

    All the child theme functions.php does is queue up the style from the parent theme, so it isn’t that.

    I checked by turning off all the other plug-ins, got the same, so that’s not the issue.

    I turned off CSS magnification and looked at the underlying HTML which shows there are hidden related posts, so now we need to figure out what is doing the hiding.

    I can see that the two Related Posts are still not showing at the moment; however, as my colleague Dan had mentioned, I can see that those were generated by Jetpack, but they’re just not being printed on the screen properly.

    I know you’ve mentioned that there were no changes made to the Child theme, but just to be on the safe side, I’d suggest switching to a default theme like Twenty Seventeen to see if this works. You can use the Theme Switcha plugin to avoid altering your site’s design during this troubleshooting. Meanwhile, you could also disable WP Rocket for a moment.

    Are you using the Related Posts directly from the Jetpack settings → Traffic tab or using the Block? You can disable and re-enable that after the steps above.

    Keep us posted about the results after that point.
