• Hello,

    I installed iThemes security on a lot of sites and only 1 has an issue: when going to the settings of the plugin, only the ‘Dashboard’ tab has content. The others are visible & appear to be activated but there’s nothing under it.

    Can this be some kind of plugin / jquery version issue or something?

    Any advise is highly appreciated!

    Best regards,
    Jurgen

    Is this happening while using the latest iTSec plugin release (5.2.1) ?
    And are you NOT running WordPress in the default English (United-States) language ?

    Interesting case.
    I’ve seen this happening in the past when using (or attempting to use) an iTSec plugin translation. But it looks like neither of you is even running WordPress in a (non English) local language.

    If this issue started after recently upgrading to 5.2.0 and\or 5.2.1 you could try and downgrade to the 5.1.1 release.

    This way the Security Status section on the plugin Dashboard screen would also be available again.

    [ No bumping please. ]

    @dwinden

    Sorry, i missed your reply.
    You’re right, i’m using WP in dutch & french.
    My WP+plugins are up to date… and the tabs are still blank…

    I tried to downgrade the plugin, it doesn’t work neither.

    Any idea to solve it ?

    Thx again !

    @caral43

    Like in one WP env Dutch and French in another WP env ?
    (I guess you must be Belgian …)

    Is the text as displayed in the Dashboard tab of the iTSec plugin also in Dutch or French ?
    What files exist in the wp-content/languages/plugins/better-wp-security folder ? If that folder exists at all …

    Has this ever worked correctly ?
    If so did the issue start after upgrading to a certain iTSec plugin release ?

    dwinden

    @caral43

    Two other things to check.

    Does the issue reproduce when temporarily switching to the default English (United-States) WordPress language ?

    Are there any errors in the web server error_log ?

    dwinden

    Hi! Thx for your reply,

    1/ I checked another WP (also in Dutch/French): no problems at all. The dashboard of iTSec is displaying in English (but it’s not blank at all !).
    2/ Text of itsec plugin is in english everywhere. There’s no “better-wp-security” folder in wp-content/languages/plugins…
    3/ It worked when i launched the website
    4/ I switched to default English language in WPML… same issue !
    5/ I will take a look in error_log. All i can see is a lot of lines similar to these : [Tue May 10 05:37:54 2016] [error] [client 91.200.xx.xxx] client denied by server configuration: /var/www/vhosts/OUR_USERNAME/public_html/.htaccess

    @caral43

    Sounds like it may be some sort of plugin conflict.

    Ok, so you are using the WPML plugin.

    The “client denied by server configuration” messages in the error_log
    are most probably irrelevant for this issue.

    It’s going to be hard to figure this out without access to the env.
    A TeamViewer session might help. I’m Dutch by the way.

    Same problem here! Help.

    Im using WPML et iTheme Security and the main language of my WordPress is French.

    All my iTheme Security tabs are empty except the dashboard.

    I do not know if this is new, but iTheme Security seems to be translated in French now ? This is the first time I see it in French! I do not understand why on my other WordPress’ (in French too, wp & all plugins are updated), it stays in English?

    I have already reinstall ITS, but the problem is still there!

    Here a screenshot: https://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/240996its.jpg

    Hello, same problem here
    WPML & iThemes Security (dashboard in US EN)

    Found a temp solution for my case (renamed/removed the language files)

    Hello,

    Samme for me. When i upadte plugin translation :

    Add in /wp-content/languages/plugins
    better-wp-security-fr_FR.po
    better-wp-security-fr_FR.mo

    Tab dashboard empty. When I erase this 2 files, it’s ok.

    A solution?

    @kreeger

    1. To enable a French iTSec plugin translation you need to manually add the following 2 translation files to the /wp-content/languages/plugins/better-wp-security folder:

    better-wp-security-fr_FR.po
    better-wp-security-fr_FR.mo

    If the /wp-content/languages/plugins/better-wp-security folder does not yet exist create it manually.

    2. To solve the empty tabs issue edit the better-wp-security-fr_FR.po file using Poedit and clear the translation for the entry “Security”.
    In other words make “Security” untranslated. Save changes.

    dwinden

    Hi,

    The problem seems to be fixed… by itself without changing wp-security-fr_FR.po/better-wp-security-fr_FR.mo

    Wreid…

    Now, ITS is in French on all my WP!

    @kreeger

    Interesting.

    I can explain why it works without editing the better-wp-security-fr_FR.po file with Poedit as explained in point 2 of my previous post.

    It turns out the string “Security” is by default translated into “Security” (and not as “Sécurité”) in the French iTSec plugin translation. The “Security” string untranslated or translated as “Security” makes the French translation and thus the iTSec plugin tabs work.

    Since the plugin translation now seems to work the iTSec plugin menu option will probably show “Security” while everything else is in French. Please confirm.

    When you look at your screenshot you will notice that when the tabs were empty the iTSec plugin menu option showed “Sécurité” !

    So it could be the WPML plugin is under certain conditions translating “Security” into “Sécurité”. And this will break the iTSec plugin tabs.

    Anyway the root cause of this issue is a known bug in the code of the iTSec plugin.

    One additional question. Is the WPML plugin a paid plugin ?
