I am working on a site for a friend and doesn’t seem to be working correctly. If I click on any other page besides the home link on the navigation menu, it still shows only the homepage/ index content. If I select one of the cetagories it changes. But if I select a menu item I am only getting https”//www.domain.com instead the normal https://www.domain.com/?page_id=2 or whatever was supposed to show.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it?

I figured maybe it was because I had upgraded to 3.0 before this started but I went back and restored the files and everything back to my 2.9.2 via my hosting server since I figured maybe the theme was not compatible with 3.0 and I am still having the same issue.

Any suggestions? I am not a php expert so I am clueless as to what needed to be reviewed in the code if anything.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Did you restore the database back to 2.9.2 or just the files? If “no”, then re-upload the WP 3.0 files asap. Then try posting a link to the site in question.

I went into my hosting manager and did a restore, I think that process restores everything… i think but from the sound of things, I only did the files. Site is tmsradio.com

Ok I just re-read what you said, so are you saying Ineed togo back in and upgrade back to WP 3.0 again?

The files are definitely 2.9.2. Have a look at db_version in the wp_options table. For a 3.0 site, its value will be 15260. For 2.9, it’s 12329.

I’ve just had a quick look at the site. How are you generating that top nav menu? Currently all of the links point to the Home page.

It’s just the template. I did not do anything in regards to the navigation menu. Should I perhaps delete all of the other pages and try adding them again or something? I even went back and tried loading the template fresh and it still has the same error. I believe it has to be something in the template. It was working at one time but now is acting funky. I tried a different template and the pages change so I don’t know…Do I need to send you some code from one of the php pages or something? Also, do I still need to go back and upgrade to WP 3.0 again? I noticed none of this happened until I upgraded my WP By the way, thanks for your assistance.

I do realise that it your theme but how is the theme generating the links in the top nav menu?

Beyond just me going into my Admin and adding pages with titles, honestly I have no clue…

Do I need to provide copies of scripts crom the Admin side or anything?

If need be I can send you a copy of the original theme if you need to look through it because I am not sure I understand the question about how my theme is generating links for the top nav menu. If so, shoot me your email address and I will be happy to send it over.

You could start by posting a link to the site.

I found the issue. It was the PNG image. it was so huge that it hovered over the navigation menu and it was set to go to the homepage when clicked. Thanks for all of your assistance
