I’ll have to check how wp-optimise works to find a proper solution.

i saw something really interesting,
when i edit a blog post, i can see that it loads the images from the cloudfront, since i see in the links loading, that it loads from the cdn link.
can you try to see from your end, if the images are now loading from the cdn please?
* i can’t because i am a logged in user.

I checked https://www.saveatrain.com/blog/most-mysterious-places-europe/ and the links are not loaded from the CDN

Here’s what I think:
Once you enable cache on wp-optimise, the pages are cached on the server.
Any request for that page, gets served from the cache, completely avoiding WordPress filters / functions etc.

I will dig in more tomorrow or the day after.

Meanwhile, if you see an option on wp-optimise to not cache the page, try it out.

i am pretty positive your assessment is correct, this indeed what happened, they are caching locally and ignores the fact that their is cache.
for example with total cache plugin, you have a place to enter which cdn service you are using

This is correct, but the page saved to cache itself goes through the normal WordPress process and filters.

I’ve tested your plugin with WP-Optimize, and it works as expected. E.g. https://mklacroix.com/portfolio/hopeville/

Maybe its something to do with the website setup of @saveatrain

maybe its the preload that is casuing the images not to load from the cdn?

in addition, i thought of installing this plugin, and then changing the site link to the cdn link, and then even when i preload the site, the links of the images will be the cdn links,
