• I really like the plugin and I also think that the paid version is priced fair but I simply can not use the free version for new clients because the advertisment of the pro version is present everywhere and can not be avoided. Since this would make the whole site look very unprofessional und unfinished, I can not use it for fresh installations where it is not yet clear if the client will be using it enough to pay for it. That is really sad and I hope that this feedback may bring some positive changes.

    Hi @basti743,

Thank you for your feedback on our plugin. We appreciate your positive comments about the pricing of the paid version and understand your concerns about the advertisement for the pro version.

I’d like to clarify that the advertisement for the pro version is displayed only in specific areas, not globally across the complete WordPress system. Additionally, there is an option to hide the advertisement or notice.

If you are experiencing difficulties with hiding the advertisement, please don’t hesitate to open a support ticket at devowl.io/support. We would be happy to assist you and solve the issue for you!

    Best regards,
    Jan

    @devowl thanks for your reply.

Where can I disable advertisment for the Pro version?

For me, the most annoying notice is when I want to pick an image anywhere and want to select a folder. Then I get a popup where 80% of the popup is telling me to buy the pro version. This also causes the popup to go to 100% window height, making it look weird and broken. Since picking images is very common for authors and stuff this gives a very bad taste that falls back on me if I created the site.

    Hi @basti743,

You can find a screenshot at https://imgur.com/Pe7c0tD. You can click in this notice on “Hide for 30 days” in this prominently placed advertisement in the media library to hide the advertisement for a limited time. References to the PRO version only appear in other places if you try to use a feature that is only available in the PRO version (not hideable).

I can imagine that you mean with the behavior you describe that when you open the folder selection in a new modal/window, the more practical folder view that you get in the PRO version is advertised below the folder list. This note appears because you have explicitly selected the feature and cannot be hidden.

    Thank you for the clarification.

So my concerns, my rating and my conclusion are correct. Too bad.

    Hi @basti743,

I’m sorry that you are still not satisfied with Real Media Library. I ask for your understanding that you only get the basic functionality in the free version and that we refer you to the full version. This is the only way to refinance the many hundreds of hours of development work that go into such a plugin, so that you get a permanently working solution.

It’s perfectly fine to limit the functionality so that users have to buy the Pro version to do certain things.

However, if you have decided that the free version is enough, then this aggressive advertising is of no use, is it? I wouldn’t buy the Pro version to get more features, but to get rid of the ads.

I’m not writing this feedback to complain, because there are plenty of alternatives. I am writing here to say that you are losing me and potential customers in advance with this policy.

I would also like to warn other service providers who, like me, rely on providing their customers with a basic function without disgracing themselves. Unfortunately, this is exactly the case with this plugin.

    Hi @basti743,

Thank you for clarifying that your primary concern is the number of messages that Real Media Library displays to draw attention to PRO features.

I will take this valuable feedback with me so that we can discuss whether we can reduce them in future versions.

    Best regards,
    Jan
