• I’m a novice bordering on intermediate. I tried this out and had difficulty following and setting up. Once I did, I realized it was just too much. I only wanted a page for clients to see privately. This is more of a full website for a client. After deactivating the plugin, THEN deleting it, I still had to weed out the pages and files I had created testing it out. It also did something to my theme so I am going to go figure that out. I have read this plugin has good support, and I didn’t contact the author so it’s not fair of me to say it’s a bad choice. However for me, it’s absolutely not easy or helpful.

    Hi Anne,

sorry to hear that you got problems. The plugin is not that complicated to setup, specially since we have a step-by-step getting started tutorial. There is 0% coding involved, and most of the setup is automated.

The main issue encountered usually is theme compatibility. When the theme does not support the plugin, there may be some problems in the frontend.

Yes, when you delete the plugin, in order to clean-up everything you will need to:

    – Delete the pages containing a shortcode looking like [customer-area…]
    – Delete the navigation menu created by the plugin (Appearance > Menus)
    – Delete the folder “wp-content/customer-area” if you had uploaded any private files

And no, the plugin does not do anything to your theme. Maybe your theme is creating a default navigation menu if you have not defined one. And when WP Customer Area creates its own customer area navigation menu, your theme got confused.

Do not hesitate to give it another try on a local website so that you don’t mess your live website. And if anything, feel free to post on the support forum.

    Regards,

Just finished testing this plugin on a staging environment for a client (neat plugin btw) and thought I’d mention that in addition to the manual deletion of the pages/menu/folder mentioned above the plugin adds about 25 capabilities that, if anyone wants a clean uninstall, have to be manually removed as well.
