Only first name instead of %recipient%

Hi
I know we can overwrite this before we send the Email but would it be possible to have a variable for just the recipients first name (%firstname% ?) rather than their full name (%recipient%)? We tend to be quite informal when we communicate with customers and woul prefer to use just their first name.
