• Hello,

I am using this plugin to generate a feed from my blog posts. When I look at the generated xml only the first ten entries are getting an itunes:summary xml tag.

The content of the first 10 for the itunes:summary tag is the text of the blog post itself.

this text is also in the the description tag AND the itunes:subtitle tag for all entries.

However, only the first 10 have itunes:summary tag. Is there a setting somewhere that is limiting this?

    thank you.
    Peter.

Just one more point – the podcast feed has an itunes summary for each item but yet the validator still doesn’t see them?

I think it is a problem with that feed validator service. I looked at your feed it has the itunes summary tags. You also have an itunes summary for the overall program as well. I replied to your email CC’ing Charles who runs podba.se to let him look into the validator problem. Otherwise I do not think you have an issue with your feed and you should be good to go.

Thanks. So far, iTunes keeps rejected it with nothing more than “failed validation”. It won’t tell us anything about what specifically failed.

I am so sorry, I thought you said the problem was the itunes:summary was missing, but the actual problem is iTunes is rejecting the feed. Let me run this through our internal feed validator so I can give you a better answer…

    I have the answer…

Your server is bloking HTTP “HEAD” requests. IF you are using a security plugin like iThemes or similar, it may be that they added code to your .htaccess to block HEAD requests. It is also possible that your web host has some special rules blocking HEAD requests. Regardless, HEAD requests are required for iTunes, they use them to check if the feed has changed and if it didn’t they didn’t just download the entire feed. iTunes pings the Feeds ever 2-4 hours so you can see the value of the performance.

Ah.. OK! I will check that!

    Thank you!

So, We found some HEAD request blocking lines in .htaccess that was put there by a plugin that is no longer in use. We removed them and resubmitted to iTunes and it looks good!!

Thank you for all your help!,

    Awesome!

We are putting together a list of security plugins that do this so we can print a warning in PowerPress Settings if the plugin is enabled. I will email you privately to get the plugin info so we can add it to the list.

If you found the support and the plugin is of value, we would greatly appreciate it if you could leave us a review. Thanks!
