I am using WordPress Theme Twenty Twenty Four.

When I edit elements in the Content block, I have a choice of any Google Font for the Font Family.

But when I am editing the template (i.e. the area above the Content block where a cover photo can be inserted), I only get a choice of 5 fonts (default, inter, cardo, System Sans Serif, and System Serif.

    I have 2 questions:

    1. How can I get more font choices for that area above the Content block?
    2. How can I change whatever the “Default” font is? All the research I have done seems to suggest that the area for that is something that has been changed for this new theme. I cannot find where to set Default Font, Default Buttons, etc.

    Thank you

The 2024 theme out of the box does not offer any font family selection for content. It’s “Inter” and that’s it. The availability of other options has to be due to a plugin you’re using. I recommend asking through that plugin’s dedicated support channel for how to get more options.

A theme’s default font is specified in its theme.json file. You should not alter this file’s content. To implement a different default through theme.json, you would need to create a child theme. It’s possible the plugin that provides for more font selection can also specify a default outside of theme.json. Ask about the possibility through its support channel.

I am using plugin Use Any Font to add the fonts I wanted and once I did that, I was able to assign them anywhere including as defaults.
