This plug-in only checks my link when I update a post or a comment. Well sometimes it will find a broken link here and there.

But every time I update an old post, the plug-in will be like oh yeah by the way these 2-3 links in this post are broken. And then I find out they are old links that have been broken for years.

In the settings It says to check every links every 48 hours. If I ask it to check all the links again and empty the linkdatabase again, it won’t find any new, so that doesn’t solve the issue.

I recently found out that upon establishing an about me page back in 2018, 500 new dead links were created, but this plug-in hadn’t picked up on these. They were in the comments.

And now as I go through the comments, the dead links are being picked up one by one. Again, as if the plugin is being ‘activated’ by me adressing a post/comment with a broken link.

    Best regards Nina

    Hi @plantepusherne

    I hope you’re well today!

Based on the description, I”m assuming you are using the “Local (old)” version of the plugin’s engine.

    Would you please:

    1. go to “Link Checker -> Local (old) -> Settings” page, switch to “Look for links in” tab and let us know which checkboxes are checked there under “Look for links in” option?

    2. install and enable free WP Crontrol (this one) plugin and then

    – go to “Tools -> Cron Events” page in site’s back-end
    – look for any tasks see columnt title “hook” or use search) that start with “blc_”
    – and let us know about them: which ones are there, what’s the scheduled frequency (“recurrence” column) and if “Next Run” column shows them as being overdue or not

    Let us know, please.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

Thanks for getting back ?? Here’s the info requested.

This is what it is asked to check. A plus indicates YES and a ‘-‘ indicates NO.

    Hi @plantepusherne

    Thanks for response!

Cron seems fine then (assuming it is actually running correctly) but this info

This is what it is asked to check. A plus indicates YES and a ‘-‘ indicates NO.

is not quite what I asked about ??

You shared settings from the “Which Links To Check” settings tab and not “Look for Links in” tab. Can you check this specific tab and let us know?

Also, in the same tab you’ll also see checkboxes for “Post statuses” – which ones are checked there?

    Best regards,
    Adam

    Oh Sorry!

So in the list you mention only 3 are checked:

Posts (Indl?g) (there are two with the exact same name, only the bottom one is checked – I’m assuming they both should be checked?)
    Comments (Kommentarer)
    Pages (Sider)

I added the original name in parenthesis, in hopes I translated them right…

    Thanks

    UPDATE
I toggled the top one of the two ‘Posts’ as well, along with a couple of others.

Then I asked it to recrawl the site for broken links. Now the 3-5 broken links that before that appeared in the broken links list … dispappeared. I don’t get how this plugin operates.
