Only archive posts showing—permalink slug bug

If the [Admin->EventList->Settings->Frontend settings]Events permalink slug is set to events then only the archive shows, with no filter bar, at my main events page at [mysite]/events. If I change it to event (or anything else) then all events show, the filter bar is visible—but the page doesn’t use the permalink format to link to the individual events.

So when the page’s permalink is [mysite]/events and so is the desired slug, it doesn’t work…
