One WordPress database used by two domains?

    We currently have two websites on some dedicated hosting which share the same database. This means we can add records once, and the info appear on both sites.

    However, we are looking at redesigning the sites, and using WordPress / WooCommerce.

    Is it possible to use one database instance with a WordPress set up for the two sites, or would we need a separate WordPress installation on each domain, and maintain two databases independently?
