is not translated (to no language besides EN)

    would you …. ?

    best

    H.

edit: to clarify. I do understand that there is an option to translate with po/mo files. I′m just wondering why 90% is translated and only these few strings are not. I found a few more:

ok, checked the po/mo files. Those strings (and probably a few more) do not exist.

What is the suggestion to translate those strings?

    1. wordpress forum is pretty suitable for the free version. I think the concept of hosting knowledge here and not in proprietary support areas where you have to register (once again and again and again) is right!
    2. I′m using wpml. The link you posted refers to transloco or one of the other translation plugins. It seems the problem with those mentioned strings is, that they aren′t properly defined in the code. So also wpml is not finding them (at least I can′t find them with wpml). In the link you posted, the suggestion is to install a WHOLE translation plugin to translate 5 strings. This is nuts if you aren′t using one (trans plugin) already.
    3. I′m wondering why you guys, giving an AMAZING tool mainly for free to the community, make it so complicated when it comes to the little things. Just put the missing strings in the po, i am totally willing to create the translations and send them over ??

    1. wpForo community is not here. There are a lot of users and support staff who can help you within a day. Here you may wait for days or more. wpForo documentation is also there. You can search answers on your questions in the forum or in documentation.
    2. The link I posted refers to the built-in phrase translation system of wpForo. You just need to click the [Rebuilt phrases] and find them in wpForo > Phrases admin page. Then you can edit and translate them. Here is another example of missing phrase that you can find and translate: https://wpforo.com/community/postid/70538/
    3. Yes, we’re putting missing phrases almost with every release, so all those will be added to po/mo files as well.

thank you for your answer. Search Phrases did the trick (it′s under Overview Foren Wartung/Foren Maintenance). Now i can find the mentioned strings.

    the documentation under https://wpforo.com/docs/wpforo-v2/translation/

    is under construction.

How do i switch the language i want to translate to? I can only translate EN to EN.

    Hi @holle75,

Using phrases, you’re not creating new translation files, just editing the default phrase.

If you are going to make a large amount of translation, I would recommend using Loco Translate for that. Loco Translate Plugin also has wpForo Phrases translated to several languages, some of them are fully translated, some less.

Ok, got you. To explain that procedure to followers:

First you have to update phrases in WPforo again it seems to find the few missing strings.

After, in wpml (or other trans plugins) you have to search the wpforo plugin for strings.

Then you can find the missing strings to translate them.

Forget about the internal Phrases “translation” of WPforo. Thats what got me off the track. It seems it has nothing to do with actual translations, instead use it if you want to change the wording in your main language. (WPforo please correct me). Well, probably thats what Phrases/Formulierungen means ??

It would be nice if you guys at wpforo could implement the missing strings in the mo/po files. It′s a lot of going back and forth for 5 strings….

Thank you for your help and again thank you for an amazing plugin.

… back with the last translation problem:

whatever you decide to set in Settings -> privacy and forum rules you are getting into trouble when it comes to translations. Either you do set a link to YOUR privacy policy or dont. When you set the link, i couldn′t find a way to translate that link. When you do not set a link, the wording changes and i couldn′t find a way to translate THAT wording. Well, i can find the strings and translate them, but the frontend is not using this translations. So either way you have a problem. Any recommendations?

Using the INTERNAL privacy policy works with translations (the link and translations of the link), but you want to link to your own.

PS: same problem in “privacy and forum rules” with the contact information link. You can translate it but won′t get shown/used

PPS: there are tons of untranslated strings in your forum account. Translatable. But hey, would be amazing if somebody would translate those for everybody and not one only for oneself.

    Hi, as written:

there are tons of untranslated strings in your forum account. Translatable.

so you will find them in Phrases. I was just saying that it might make more sense to translate them so they′ll come with the mopo files instead everybody is translating them for themself. When i find the time i will add those missing translations here ….

Any answer to the problem before?:

Let me try to make things clearer (for me and for followers). Please correct me if i′m wrong.

Phrases in settings is meant to alter the phrase in the SAME language. Please be aware (thats what i found out the hard way) that after you alter a phrase, wpml (as an example for a translation plugin) will NOT translate the altered phrase anymore in another language. You can find the string, translate it, but the translation will not be shown in the frontend. When you put the exact original phrase back in the field for the altered phrase, the translation will be shown in the frontend again. If i rember right the manual is a bit misleading in that regard. Altering Phrases has not so much to do with translations.

There do exist mo and po files for many languages. Some (or many, depending on the language) of the strings are not translated. This is what my question is about. It would be great if gVectors could provide the translations in the mo po files. If not, one can translate original phrases in the respective translation plugin if the phrase is not altered from the original (in settings -> phrases). But that would mean one is doing it for oneself and not for the comunity.

    @holle75,

wpForo PO. MO files are located at \wp-content\plugins\wpforo\languages
