• I recently found and downloaded Event Organiser because I really liked the features and the appearance of the plugin. Everything worked fine until I tried to use the “eo_fullcalendar” shortcode. Instead of showing the calendar, I got the frustrating box with the never-ending little rotating wheel.

After hours of checking everything I could think of in the plugin, my theme settings, even the WP setup, I finally did what I should have done to begin with. I disabled every other plugin I was using and then viewed my page with the “eo_fullcalendar” shortcode on it and…voilà…there was my calendar. I then reactivated the other plugins one-at-a-time until I found the culprit. It turns out that “Custom Contact Forms” (another good plugin) doesn’t play nice with Event Organiser. I’m keeping EO…I’ll have to find another form-maker that is compatible.

Thanks for posting this, I’ll take a look at Custom Contact Forms and see what’s causing the conflict. If there’s a fix in either plug-in, I’ll post an update here.

Do you mean Custom Contract Forms by Taylor Lovett? If so, I couldn’t find a conflict: there were some strict errors in the plug-in, which if you had WP_DEBUG enabled might ‘corrupt’ the ajax response and explain the bug.

Otherwise there could be something wrong with a particular set-up… If you want to try CCF again then if I were you I’d look for error messages:

    • In the browser console (javascript errors)
    • In the network tab (chrome, at least). Either way, look for error messages in the ajax response. Error messages there would render the response unreadable, and the calendar will just ‘load’.

However the second one should only be the case if WP_DEBUG were on, and if WP_DEBUG is on, the calendar would alert you to any parse errors.

There could be other reasons, but out of the box there didn’t appear to be a conflict…

    Stephen,
Thanks for your responses. Yes, I was referring Taylor Lovett’s plugin. I am not running wp_debug. I am using WP 3.8.1 with the Weaver II theme however, in my initial attempts at trying to find a solution I tried other themes, including Twenty Fourteen and Sigma but changing themes didn’t seem to help so I don’t think it is theme related.

I freely admit to being an amateur, so I don’t know how much time you will want to spend on this. If you want to take a look at my site it is https://www.fcr-mm.org. I’m open to any recommendations because I do like Custom Contact Forms and because I want my site to be right, not just patched together.

    Tommy
