one site of many isn't showiing update avail

Perhaps something is blocking the update check process on those two sites.

Do the update manually. Then it should be normal and able to update from then on.

did one site manually and it’s still somewhat broken, not showing current version on the update page as noted in the image below:

Disable your plugins, standard debugging procedures. And make sure you updated all the files, not just some of them.

Try to find what code add-on you have is the source of the problem.

ahh hah found it.. it’s cPanel’s WP installer.. it adds a plugin that disables core updates.

woulda never thought to look there unless you didn’t suggest disabling the plugins. thnx.

Yes, cPanel is not trustworthy. Don’t use their software installer.

Also send him a copy of your wp-admin and wp-includes folder, plz. (they used to hack core to do it, I really hope they at least stopped that way of doing it)

email sent.. all I have was the plugin file.. I over-wrote cPanel’s files with a fresh copy from wp.org trying to ‘fix’ this mess.
