I wish to create a web app using WordPress. Each user will sign up using username/password (as usual), and all will have access to the home page and certain categories. However, I want my users to also be able to create their own, private posts… visible only to the individual user and no other users, and this needs to happen automatically. Is this possible to do in WordPress, and how would I make this happen? Do I need to use BuddyPress? (I have no site set up yet, as I need to know if this is actually possible to achieve in WordPress). Thanks in advance for the help!

It is possible for a plugin to do that, but you have not given much information. What do you mean by “automatically”? Are all the posts private, or are there also some normal public posts?

I do not know anything about BuddyPress.

Yes, all of the posts will be private, so when someone signs up, they would be able to create their own private posts, kind of like a “to-do list”, which can be categorized. (NOT a to-do list, btw, but similar to that). What I mean by “automatically” is that the posts are already set to be private, instead of the member having to choose that option.
