One Pager Theme development – Using page templates or widgets?

    Hello,
    I create an one pager theme at the moment. I have different page templates and currently my front-page.php offers seven widget areas which are lined up accordingly. I want to create the possibility that the user can assign pages to the widget areas to get displayed accordingly.

    But when I do this with the plugin “Genesis Feature Page Advanced” the page template which is assigned to the page is not considered. The content is just displayed in the “classical way”.

    How would you do a one pager theme where you will locate different pages under each other? Would you create widgets as I do or would you use “get_template_part” within the front-page.php?
