One of my go-to plugins – fantastic

I have been using Ad Inserter for years but am just now getting around to leaving a review. It has always been an excellent plugin and one I simply install, configure and leave to work reliably on all my sites (more than a dozen).

Over the years I have noticed that it gets updated very regularly and occasionally I noticed lots of new and potentially useful features getting added. I have never used most of the bells and whistles and if you don’t need them, that’s fine. It is easy to configure even for very basic needs. And, the documentation for using all those features is very good. But, boy are there some fantastic extra features.

Recently, in doing some page speed optimization, I started thinking that I would like to treat mobile visitors differently from desktop visitors. I didn’t even realize this was an option in Ad Inserter (probably was added in the years since I first installed it). Well, how great is that feature? Not only can it do it, it can differentiate between a phone, tablet and desktop (WordPress’s own mobile detection functionality lumps phones and tablets together). It can even filter these devices either from the server or the client (helpful for dealing with caching). Speaking of filtering, all the useful ways you can probably imagine to filter where your ads are and are not shown exist. And they are easy to set.

Another very cool feature that I only recently found a use for is the ability to add PHP code into the blocks. You probably won’t need that, but it’s yet another thing that shows just how much care and effort the developer has put into this great plugin.

Finally, did I mention that every feature I need is available in the free version? Really, what more can you ask for from a top-notch WordPress plugin. A+ and then some.
