One link keeps reverting to home page instead of going to intended page

  • My client can’t navigate to one of the pages on his site and he wants me to fix it, but I don’t even know where to start.

    The problem page is https://mn-wi.com/aca/aware/. I can access it through all of my browsers just fine but when he tries to go to that page using Google Chrome it just takes him back to the home page. Even when I give him the direct link his browser automatically takes him to https://mn-wi.com/aca instead! all the other pages work fine. If he opens the site in another browser he doesn’t have that issue at all.

    I don’t have any problems getting to https://mn-wi.com/aca/aware/ in any of my browsers, including google chrome. I’m sure it’s an issue with his personal settings, but he’s worried other users will run into the same problem.

    Because I can’t recreate his issue I don’t know how to fix it. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? do you know of a setting he would need to change? Is there something wrong with that page?

    I’m sorry I can’t provide many more details. I’m really stuck and any help would be appreciated.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Preview is not working with 3.8. Reverts to Home Page. Using RT-Theme 18Version: 1.2.1.

    Tried unplugging plugins, but no luck. I have two other WP sites and the preview is working fine. This one never has.

    The bad news is that the only way I can see the page is to publish it, and it publishes on all the social media accounts.
