One Billion Words; a weblog about WordPress, coding, life, memories, and anything else I care to write about.

I don’t care to sell you a product, affiliate-link you to a service, or use 90% of my screen-space to load 50 advertisements for products you don’t care about.

What I do care about is writing, focusing on that writing, and offering support for my plugin and theme when I can.

Nice theme and that’s a very clever presentation. I had to look deeper than usual to identify it for sure as a WordPress site.

Thanks. Second site built on WordPress that the initial reaction was along the lines of ‘is this WordPress?’ I think I’ll just take that as an overall compliment.

The theme is a redevelopment of another theme I released in 2006. I would have re-released it here, but somebody took over the name Bare on the repo, as I lost my stake to it when the themes were moved from .net to .org, it would seem.

Thanks, again, for the compliment. That site and the plugin and theme that I offer from it/support for are a labor of love. And many, many, many months of having no life.

Do you have it cached? I was actually surprised to have such a load time for a very simple theme. It looks good but it does load a little slow.

Single posts load a lot faster than the front page. (Compare 4.205s to .538s (front, single) as reported by webpagetest.org). The installation is using Varnish on the server side for caching.

Enabling Post as Front (part of a plugin I developed/work on), it decreases the load time significantly, so I think it’s just the initial fetch of full post content on the front page that is causing the load time.

Have you noticed the tiny smiley at the very bottom of your site?

The smiley is a part of Jetpack’s WordPress.com stats.

The image helps collect stats and makes the world a better place but should still work when hidden

But yes, to answer your question: I am aware of it, and I have disabled it. Meant to originally, but I guess it just slipped my mind.
