• I do realise that there is still a free version available, without updates – as it was explained in a previous comment titled Theme My Login 7: Free Extensions.

    But what does WordPress tell us over and over again? Update! Update the plugins because outdated plugins can pose a security threat.

    Any outdated login plugin may cause a security breach because members will have to use it to enter their usernames and passwords to enter your website.

    Is the current free version worth the risk? No, not for me. I moved on.

    That is incorrect. The base plugin will still be maintained. I am baffled by how many people don’t understand how this works. Theme My Login, the plugin, is still in the WordPress repository and is still and will still be maintained. We’ve just moved some features to paid extensions. Those will not be updated nor supported without a license.

    It’s not really baffling why people don’t understand how it works. Nobody can find a post or something explaining it. One has to gather bits of information here and there and then come to your own conclusions. If there is such a document then please share the link.

    Hi @isiqik,

    The login, registration and password recovery functionality is part of the base plugin and will continue to be maintained. So, fortunately, the scenario you mentioned will not happen!

    Thank you for making it clear. Just to make sure I understand everything correctly: If I reinstall TML and activate it it won’t affect my site and the standard functions as mentioned in your reply above will be available with updates. The rest of the functions are now add-ons.

    @isiqik,

    We cannot guarantee that it won’t affect your site, but it will definitely be updated!

    Okay, I’m going to take the chance and reinstall it because I really like TML. I’ll let you know what happened.

    It installed nicely. The only thing that changed on the theme was the top bar. It now floats on left side instead of right. Just an observation: I see there is no space for Name and Surname on the register page. It’s a needful thing on my website because I run BuddyPress on the site.

    I won’t be using TML again after all. This new free version of TML does not compare to what I’m using now.
