The Parent Page selector under Page Attributes is still not working correctly, even with latest 3.11.4 version of plugin. Running latest version of WP and plugin, users with limited page access has no pages showing up in the selector. The dropdown is visible, but the user has no access to pages in the selector, and if they open a page they have access for to edit, the parent page selector defaults to “no parent” and when saving the page is saved to “root”. Oddly, they can then go to the page overview listing all the pages they have access to, and choose quick edit, and from there they have access to all pages and can choose a parent – but it’s not possible to do on the page edit screen under page attributes.

I downgraded WP to 6.2.3 and everything was back to normal. running on php 8.1.23.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @mojowiredesign

There are few things that I need to confirm:

    1. This issue only happens on latest version of WordPress (6.3.1) ?
    2. This issue happens on all users, including Administrator?
    3. Do you see any error in the console?
    4. Do you mind sharing some screenshots how it behaves on your end?

    @mojowiredesign,

Please give some details about the user’s role, any related Permissions configuration and other plugins. I don’t see this on a quick test when the user has a standard Editor role.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved. If you have any further questions, please reply again here, or you can start a new thread.

    Thanks,

Happens on 6.3.1 as well as latest now which is 6.4.1 – no change after latest plugin updates

This happens on a custom user role – it worked fine up until a certain point, then it stopped working.

    No errors in the console

Please look at this image to see how the behaviour is: https://ibb.co/zQtsrRR – even though it’s in Norwegian the behaviour is simple:

The widget is the page attributes, the “Template”-heading is visible, but the dropdown is hidden. The “Parent” heading and dropdown to choose parent page is completely gone, as in the code for that part of the widget is not loaded at all. Before the update that might have caused this the user had access to choose parent page for the page they where editing.

The User Role is a custom user role that has basic page and post create, publish, edit and edit published capabilites for their own pages, but not others. They can only delete and delete published (but not others).

The way it’s wired is that each of the users with this special role has access to a page within the page hierarchy and all of its sub pages, and are set as the author of the “main page” as well as the sub pages to that page. the “main” page for each user is two levels in from root. Imagine having a main page in root called “Our Offices”, and a page level under that being “Europe, America, etc”, and underneath that one page pr. country.

    • Our Offices
    • -Europe
    • — Norway
    • — Contact Info
    • — Our services
    • — Sweden
    • — Contact Info
    • — Our Services
    • – Asia
    • — Japan

The user roles are representatives for each country, so 1 user is then set as the owner of the country page “Norway” and it’s sub pages, the next user is set for “Sweden”-page and subpages, and any new pages they where able to choose either Country page as parent, or any of the sub pages as parents.

@mojowiredesign Can you try to replicate this on a new WordPress installation? If so, could you provide steps on how to reproduce the issue? We tested it on our end, and it worked fine.
