• When I define a reusable block and insert its shortcode into a widget, and use the widget in a page, the Reusable Blocks admin page (/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=wp_block) still says that the reusable block is “Not used yet” when I look at the “Used in” column.

    This is in WP 5.4.2.

If I insert the shortcode into a post, then the “Used in” column correctly shows the post where the reusable block is present.

Thank you for your message, and really sorry for the delay,

Yes, unfortunately, it only counts uses in post_content. I could count their usage in widgets as well, but should it only say “Used in sidebar XXXX” (name of the sidebar area) ? Maybe ??

I can explore this for the next release ??

Thank you. Thinking about actual use, as a WordPress admin, the most important things I would want to know about a block are:

    1. Is the block used at all? (So I can delete it if unused.)
    2. Where do the uses occur? (So I can view or edit them.)

The actual count of uses does not really serve a business purpose, as far as I can see.

So perhaps the ideal would be a column named “Used in…” that displays a list of links to edit each of the posts/widgets/etc where the uses occur. That would satisfy both cases (1) and (2) above. If the list of uses is too long, there could be a “More…” link that leads to another page to display links.

Just a thought. Thanks again for a great plugin.

    Hi there,
the label “Used in sidebar XXXX” does not appear for me….
all the widgets blocks are marked as “Not used yet”

    WP 5.5.1
    reusable plugin 0.6.2

despite that I’really love this piece of software that I use extensively in my website (when I will have got more cash than only for a surviving level I will certainly donate)

Happy coding and have a great day

Hello! I just found this plugin and am loving it so far! In regards to the “used in”, I am using the shortcode to display the block in a featured section of my page. Because it’s not directly in the page and only the shortcode, it shows as not used. Is there a way to update the plugin to just search for anyway it is used, regardless of how it’s implemented? I’d hate for a client to delete it, thinking it’s not used when it is actually in use. Thank you!
