OMG – Which Theme to pick?

Okay.. I am doing a new WordPress site and am plowing through free themes. Am a bit out of touch with the latest trends. What’s up with the Responsive Themes? Is it really that desirable to have everything drop to the bottom when viewing in iPhones/Androids etc. ? Do most of you here use those and want that? I built 3 sites in WP with the Thematic framework which don’t use responsiveness.
Could you enlighten me on what would be one of the best new free templates to use? And which route I should go? I am totally lost here. The sites I had built are:

https://shredmistress.shredmistress.netI don’t have an iPhone or such. They seem to look and work okay. What say you? A good new up-to-date framework would be cool too. I’m not sure where Thematic is at this point. Thanks for any and all suggestions.
