'Older Posts' (page 2, page 3 etc) permalinks redirecting to homepage

I updated wordpress to 4.4.1 and that has been the only change I have made to the website this year so far.

I have just noticed today that the ‘Older Posts’ permalink of the website is redirecting back to the homepage instead of going to the website’s older posts as it should.

Everything from page 2, page 3, page 4 and so on, is all redirecting to the homepage.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated.
