Older posts button shows up even if there are no more posts

I’ve setup the plugin to paginate at 4,
‘posts_per_page’ => 4
there are only 4 posts, and the button is showing up, if you click it it tries to load more posts even though there isn’t any more then disappears. Shouldn’t the “older posts” button only appear if there is actually more posts? Same thing if I set up 2 per page. With 4 posts, the second page shows the button even though all posts are loaded.
