  • did you enter an valid/existing category ID into the custom field with the key ‘category’ for that particular page?

Thanks for the timely response. The page template does function perfectly in that respect – the appropriate categorized posts appear on the right pages dependent upon the value in the custom field.

The problem is that for some reason the older entries link does not work.

    Thanks again.

Well, after struggling a bit more with this, I have found out that the older entries link only does not work on the static front page.

Still struggling with the code to fix it, any suggestions would be most appreciated.

just tested the code, and it works in my local test setup.

do you have any other queries or loops before the tempalte, for instance in teh header?

    what are your permalink settings?

    Thanks for the response.

On the permalinks setting, I have the postname option set. Should it be something else?

alchymyth – I went through the instructions on emptying my .htaccess file and then refreshing the permalinks. It did not work.

keesiemeijer – it is a static front page and I tried that code referenced in codex, and could not get it to work.

This is the section of the code where I believe I having the problem.
