• Hello,

Having made a minor change to a page (removing a widget in the sidebar) I found that the actual body of the page reverted to a version from 4 months ago.

Has anyone had this experience or does anyone have any idea how this could have happened?

    Thanks

  • Can you provide more details about your setup? (server specs, which version of WordPress, which theme, plugins, etc.)

In the meantime, nope, haven’t seen anything like that.

    Thank you berndesign.

Not sure what you mean by server specs. However the site is using the most recent version (3.6.1).

The Theme I am using is Weaver II Pro. The following plugins are activated on the site:

    1. Easytheme and Plugin Upgrades
    2. Improved Include Page
    3. Online Backup for WordPress
    4. Ultimate Tiny MCE
    5. User Role Editor.

    Your assistance is appreciated.

Here’s a question – clicking on revisions for your page (it may be hidden, you may have to activate it by clicking the “Screen Options” tab up near the top left corner of the page), can you click and compare the revisions of your page to the current, now out of date, revision? You may be able to correctly update to the correct revision if it’s located in your revision history. Just a thought.

    Hi berndesign.

Yes I can see all the revisions. My concern is that an old version got reactivated without any intention on the part of the person making the change to the sidebar.

I wonder what has gone wrong for this to happen?

Perhaps the widget impacts how posts are queried on the page? Removing it may have impacted the query’s “position” (i.e. which row in the table it was on) and thus it brought up the old revision – this is all speculation of course as we do not have enough evidence at this point to determine what happened.

Do you remember what the widget was called and what it did?

Yes I thought of that. I tried reversing the removal of the widget after having restored the most recent version of the page and it didn’t cause the same problem. So I think it remains a mystery.

Thanks so much for your interest and support. I haven’t always found that on this forum.
