So this is weird and I’m not even sure if this is the best place to post this.

I have W3 cache installed. The site has an online store with hundreds of products. At some point months ago, I replaced a few product images by new versions. Refreshed cache (by that time I was not using any cache plugins yet) and the changes were instant.

Now I noticed a lot of products are displaying old images again, the same I replaced previously. Not only they are outdated, they are pixelated like if they were small sized being scaled up to the product image size.

The strangest thing is, I haven’t changed these images since their last update. When I updated them, they were fine, the browsers were already displaying the correct images for months now. Why on earth are these old images being displayed now, after so long displaying the correct images?

I’m sorry if the post should not be here, it seems to be a cache issue, but I’m willing to post this elsewhere if someone points me in the right direction.

FYI, I did refreshed all caches by now a dozen times. I refreshed WooCommerce image sizes and regenerated thumbnails. I tested in new browser tabs with no history, Chrome and Edge. Desktop and mobile. I don’t know what more I can do…

Uploading the images with new names with an image replacer plugin would work granted, for sure, but this is happening with too many images to be even a considerable option.

    Thanks everyone!

    Hello @msdesignfoto

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to assist you with this.
Can you please share the URL of the page where the issue occurs?
To confirm that the issue is related to W3 Total Cache, can you please temporarily disable W3 Total Cache and see if the issue persists?
    Thanks!

    Hello

Thank you for the help. Indeed the issue persists after I deactivate W3 Total Cache.

I was almost sure I have tried disabling the image optimization plugin, but I tried it now and it seems I found the culprit (it was the image compression and optimization plugin)

    Thank you again!
